Chelsea youngster Izzy Brown has been speaking about his experiences on tour with the Blues this summer.
The 17-year-old has shone so far during the pre-season campaign, scoring twice against Wycombe Wanderers and later being part of Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad for the European training camp.
He may be young, but huge things are expected of Brown and so far he has done nothing to calm the expectation.
Speaking to Chelsea’s official website, the forward revealed what it is like to join his senior teammates as they prepare for a new season.
“It’s been a great experience,” Brown said. “It’s different to anything I’ve experienced before.
“It’s like a dream to be with Chelsea on their pre-season tour. I’m very happy to be here. It’s hard to explain just how much you are going to get better as a player and hopefully as a person in general.”
Given his age, it will be interesting to see what next season has in store for Brown.
The most likely scenario is that he remains with the Blues’ under-21 side. And yet having helped them to considerable success last season, scoring eight goals in the process, he may be deemed ready for a loan spell.
But whatever happens, it is clear how much he is enjoying being part of the senior side this summer.
“It was amazing,” he said. “To score two goals on my first game for the first team, it’s something I couldn’t have dreamed of. Now I have to keep working hard and hopefully more of that will come.”
That notion of dreams keeps coming up in Brown’s comments. And while some young footballers crave too much too soon, it seems in the case of Chelsea’s teenage sensation, he will simply embrace every wonderful moment as and when they arrive.
