Arsenal stopper admits he misses 'challenge' that Ospina will bring

Wojciech Szczesny sounds like he is looking forward to the imminent arrival of David Ospina.

Arsenal have made some big moves in the transfer market this summer - the latest coming yesterday as they made a £16 million bid to sign a Callum Chambers from Southampton, a deal that is reportedly edging nearer to completion.

With Alexis Sanchez and Mathieu Debuchy already at the club it is also believed Morgan Schneiderlin may be targeted.

But it is the goalkeeper position that really needs improvement. The club are short of stoppers, after Lukasz Fabianski joined Swansea City on a free transfer and Emiliano Viviano's loan spell at the club came to an end.

And one man who is seemingly up for the arrival of a new goalkeeper is the person who would be most affected by an arrival - Wojciech Szczesny.

The Poland international is the current number one at the club but admitted in an interview upon the teams arrival in New York that he missed Fabianski - as he pushed him hard in training:

So if Szczesny missed the challenge, it looks like it is about to pick back up. Arsene Wenger practically confirmed yesterday that Colombian stopper David Ospina would be a Gunner for the new season, and admitted he could wrestle the number one spot from the Pole.

Today it is reported Arsenal are also after Andrei Onana - a young Cameroonian keeper at Barcelona, to fight for the third-choice role.

So if Szczesny wanted a challenge, it looks like he is about to get one. He might not be so keen should Ospina force him to watch from the side-lines.
