John Scales hails prospective Loic Remy to Liverpool deal

Loic Remy

John Scales thinks Liverpool's imminent signing of Remy is a good deal for his old club.

Former Liverpool defender John Scales seems to be pleased at the prospect of Loic Remy signing for the Reds.

Remy is due to complete an £8.5 million deal to Liverpool in the very near future which would see him become their fifth signing of the summer following Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Emre Can and Lazar Markovic into the club.

The Reds have lost Luis Suarez to Barcelona this summer and they inevitably needed to find a new striker to fill at least some of the 31-goal void left by the Uruguayan, and Scales seems happy at the indications that the Frenchman will head to Merseyside.

He told the Daily Express: "With Remy, the good thing is he knows the Premier League and he has performed well in the Premier League.

"You haven't got the same settling in period/risk as buying someone from overseas.

"He's a world talent, an exciting player and he will be a big asset for Liverpool.

"It will be a good deal for Liverpool."

It does help that Remy knows the Premier League well having spent time at Queens Park Rangers and Newcastle United, and his overall goalscoring record in the league sees him averaging a goal in every two games.

Also for the fee on offer, given his goalscoring record you will be hard pushed to find a better value-for-money deal this summer for a player that has both experience of playing in the Premier League and Champions League.
