Origi has been linked with a move to Liverpool for much of the summer, but now the Spanish champions are reportedly interested.
Lille forward Origi has been linked with a move for Liverpool for much of the summer, and has even been photographed at Melwood where it is said he had a tour of the training facilities.
Origi impressed at the World Cup with his performances from off the bench in the group stages, which included a late winner in their game against Russia.
Talks surrounding the 19-year-old's proposed £10 million move to Liverpool have been dragging on for a while, it seems. There were some suggestions he had flown to Boston to meet up with the Reds' on their pre-season tour of America. It has been suggested that as part of any potential deal to take him to Merseyside that Origi will spend a season on loan at Lille to aid his development.
But the report in Marca seems to indicate that Atletico want to sign him to play alongside new signing Mario Mandzukic, who signed for the club from Bayern Munich this summer.
If Atletico were to land Origi it would be a bit of a blow to Liverpool given for how long they have tracked the Belgian, but it would be a hiccup compared to other signings. It has been said that Liverpool had been targeting a young striker this summer regardless of other business.
Origi's father was quoted earlier this week, saying: "The deal isn’t done yet. Liverpool is still the most concrete option.
"There’s another team showing interest. We want to take a decision soon. On Monday, Divock is expected back at Lille for their first training session. We would like to have everything wrapped before that day."
It might be the case that Atletico Madrid are the other interested club, but given the report from Marca, it appears they're not offering a loan deal back to Lille for a season.
Reports have suggest Liverpool are close to landing Origi, and reported interest from other clubs will probably make them more keen to wrap up this particular deal as quickly as possible.
