Chelsea fans react on Twitter to the return of club legend Didier Drogba

Chelsea fans take to Twitter to express their delight at the long-rumoured return of Didier Drogba for his second spell with the club.

After two years away from the club, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is back at Stamford Bridge, signing a one-year deal with the Blues to reunite with Jose Mourinho for the first time since 2007.

Drogba left Chelsea in 2012 for Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua, having scored 157 goals in 341 appearances since his £24 million move from Marseille in 2004, winning three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and the 2012 Champions League, his winning spot-kick proving the final contribution of his first eight-season spell.

Moving on from China to Galatasaray in January 2013, the 36-year-old had an emotional return to Stamford Bridge with the Turkish club in the last-16 of the previous season’s Champions League, before leaving the club this summer after netting 20 times in 53 games during his 18-month stint.

With Chelsea adding £35 million Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa this summer, combined with the current presence of Andre Schurrle, Fernando Torres and Romelu Lukaku, it remains to be seen how much time the veteran frontman will see on the pitch in 2014-15, considering he is no longer the dominant force who once terrorised Premier League defenders.

Nevertheless, fans are certainly excited for the Ivory Coast International’s return, as the following reactions show.
