Arsenal transfer news: £4m valuation on Casillas; Barca return for Vermaelen

All the latest transfer news and gossip from The Emirates this morning.

The goalkeeper situation at The Emirates continues to be a talking point in the press with most outlets now split between either Colombian international David Ospina or Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas as the potential signings this summer.

Nice replaced Ospina with Algerian Rais M'Bolhi recently - fuelling speculation Ospina is Emirates bound. But this morning it is again Casillas who is being heavily linked.

Real Madrid are on the verge of signing Costa Rican Keylor Navas which would make Casillas Real's third-choice custodian.

Now a fee is being mentioned for the Spaniard - with reports in Spain suggesting that Casillas could leave the Bernabeu for as little as £4 million.

The current number one Wojciech Szczesny has been speaking about the departure of his former backup and countryman Lukasz Fabianski. The fellow Pole joined Swansea City on a Bosman deal this summer - and Szczesny admits he misses his friend and challenger:

"I'll miss Lukasz Fabianski, he challenged me every day in training for the No 1 spot."

Thomas Vermaelen has been heavily linked with Manchester United in recent weeks - but it is being reported in Spain that the Belgian is also a target for Barcelona this summer.

The Spanish giants are aiming at improving their central defensive options, with Carles Puyol retiring and Luis Enrique intent on playing Javier Mascherano in midfield.

They have already snapped up Jeremy Mathieu from Valencia but now the Arsenal club captain is the next man reportedly on their list, after Marquinhos and Mats Hummels deals were ruled out.

Arsenal are however still believed to be reluctant to sell the defender.

Finally, and Colombian striker Jackson Martinez has again talked up Arsenal. The Porto goal-machine is desperate for a move to a big team this summer and he has previously admitted supporting Arsenal as a child.

Now he has dubbed The Gunners a 'great club' as time runs out to seal a move to his dream destination, the Premier League.
