Mauricio Pochettino has done great work to secure two positive signings for the club in the form of Ben Davies and Michel Vorm.
Davies takes care of what’s been a problematic left-back slot for Spurs throughout the summer while Vorm arrives as experienced back up to first team goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.
There were several left-back candidates that Pochettino could have considered signing but Davies has several attributes which make him a great capture for the club.
Firstly, he has Premier League experience with the Swans which is important because it reduces the notion of a settling in period and decreases the chance it could take him a while to find his best form in North London.
Secondly, he’s an aggressive, quick and fit full-back which will allow Pochettino to maintain his high pressing tactics, which were evident during his days at Southampton.
Vorm is an interesting signing because he could have commanded a move to another club where he would have been the undoubted number one.
However, he comes in as back up to Lloris and needs to make the most of any first team chance he’s given when he receives it.
He too has Premier League experience and will be a key player at times in a very long season as Spurs engage the Premier League, the Europa League and both main domestic club competitions.
The balance of Tottenham’s side is now in place ahead of the new campaign although Pochettino is still being linked with a move for another centre forward in the mainstream press.
He has plenty of solid midfield options and now has a natural balance to his back four, which should enable the defence to form a solid base at the back of the team.
Here’s what Tottenham fans have been making of their new signings on Twitter.
