Serie A transfer latest: Ex-Chelsea striker too expensive for Juve, Roma land Leeds target

All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...

Juventus responded to the departure of manager Antonio Conte by hiring Massimiliano Allegri, and then signing Manchester United left back Patrice Evra and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata. However, the latter suffered a knee ligament in his first training session with the Turin giants, leaving Allegri to search for another new striker.

It's been reported today that Allegri's first choice was former Inter Milan forward Samuel Eto'o, who left Chelsea at the end of his contract this summer. However, it seems that the Cameroon legend is pricing himself out of a move, with Juventus unwilling to pay his €3.5m wage demands - which means Juve could ramp up their interest in current Blues striker Romelu Lukaku.

Elsewhere, Inter are looking to land a new centre forward after Diego Milito returned to Argentina with Racing Club de Avellaneda. A number of players have been linked with a move to the San Siro to join Walter Mazzarri's side, including Manchester City's Stevan Jovetic and Manchester United's Javier Hernandez - but they could look to Southampton for a solution.

Italian international Pablo Daniel Osvaldo has had a nightmare time in England, spending the second half of the season on loan with Juventus. Reports in Italy today suggest that Osvaldo has now agreed terms with Inter ahead of a season-long loan move, which would give Inter the option to buy him at the end of the deal.

Finally, Roma's recruitment drive continues. Rudi Garcia's side have already landed Ashley Cole, Urby Emanuelson, Seydou Keita, Salih Ucan and Juan Iturbe, but now it's the centre of defence that has been strengthened. Cagliari's Davide Astori - previously linked with a move to Leeds United - has joined a season-long loan deal for €2m, though Roma have the option to buy Astori for €8m in a year's time.
