Sky's report says that Spurs want at least the amount they paid for the 24-year-old, believed to be around £7.5 million, but last season's Serie A runners-up are said to be trying to do a deal for a cheaper price.
New signing Ben Davies has been speaking about why he decided to join Tottenham after his transfer from Swansea City, along with Michel Vorm's, was confirmed last night.
He told the Tottenham website: "It was such a good opportunity for me and there was no doubt in my mind about it. It’s a great place to be and something I jumped at the chance of being part of.
"I just want to play as many games as I can this season. My aim is to come in and do my best and work hard under the new gaffer."
Youngster Kenneth McEvoy has joined Peterborough on loan until the end of the season. McEvoy made 18 appearances for the under-21 side last season.
Erik Lamela is hoping to carry his pre-season form and sharpness through to the start of the season, after scoring a brace against Toronto in their 3-2 win.
He told ESPN: "I have to continue to work. As the season progresses I will continue to get better.
"I felt like I was able to play a good 45 minutes. Overall I think the team did really well and I'm happy with the performance today.
"I had an unfortunate injury last season that kept me out of play for quite some time. In the same way, it's helped me emotionally and morally to get better and work harder towards this season."
