Fjortoft contrasts first games of Moyes and van Gaal

Jan Aage Fjortoft has commented on the dramatic difference between the first games of Louis van Gaal and David Moyes at Old Trafford.

Football expert Jan Aage Fjortoft drew the same comparison several Manchester United fans are likely to have made as the side thumped LA Galaxy a staggering 7-0 in Louis van Gaal’s first game in charge.

Fjortoft contrasted the performance, when United were 4-0 up, to the first game of the David Moyes era, which United lost 1-0 to the Singha All Stars XI.

Van Gaal, still very much getting to know his players, used two different teams in each half of the game, seemingly giving United players free reign to show him what they could do.

Needless to say they thrived on the free license, with Wayne Rooney, Ashley Young and Reece James all grabbing braces over the course of the 90 minutes.

United will now play Roma this weekend before matches against Inter Milan on July 30 and a clash with European champions Real Madrid just around the corner on August 2.
