Former Arsenal youngster Chuks Aneke and former Leeds target scored on his competitive debut for Zulte-Waregem.

Chuks Aneke swapped the Football League for the Europa League, and found the net for his new club.

Released by Arsenal this summer, last season's Crewe loanee had offers from Leeds United and Millwall, but decided to sign for Belgian side Zulte-Waregem.

Inspired last season by Chelsea loanee Thorgan Hazard, they gained entry to the Europa League qualifying stages, and travelled to Poland last night to face Zawisza Bydgoszcz.

Zulte earned a 3-1 win, with Aneke scoring early in the second half to put them 2-0 up.

Coach Franck Dury compared the attacking midfielder last week to Marouane Fellaini, due to his tall athletic frame.

Those comparisons aside, the Englishman will have been delighted to get on the scoresheet as he begins a new chapter in his career.

Scorer of 14 goals for Crewe last season, Aneke will fancy his chances of reaching double figures in Belgium, while his Europa League adventure could turn out to be a very exciting ride.
