Tottenham transfer deal justifies former Arsenal man's Emirates exit

Lukasz Fabianski now looks set to be Swansea City number one after Michel Vorm agreed to join Tottenham Hotspur.

This week has seen Mauricio Pochettino make moves to bring in competition for his current number one goalkeeper at White Hart Lane. The move has seen Swansea City goalkeeper Michel Vorm decide he quite likes the idea of playing for Spurs - and a deal now looks set with the Dutch international stating:

"Every club has two top goalkeepers in their squad. It suits the club's philosophy that there are two of us with Hugo (Lloris) and me, especially when we see that Tottenham is active in a lot of competitions."

Indeed Vorm is now set to replace Brad Friedel as the club's number two goalkeeper, providing even more competition for current incumbent Hugo Lloris - considered one of the best stoppers in the world today.

But how does the move of goalkeeper to Tottenham Hotspur vindicate the decision of a player who once played for Spurs' most heated rivals? Of course we are talking about Polish international goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski - who it would seem has just walked into regular first-team football in the Premier League.

Fabianski's decision to quit Arsenal at the end of his contract this summer could have been seen as a risk. He was seriously pushing number one Wojciech Szczesny for the number one jersey and was also playing at a Champions League side - to leave was certainly a gamble.

But now, thanks to the transfer dealings of his former rivals at the moment it would appear he will be an undisputed starter in the Premier League.

After an injury ravaged spell at The Emirates Fabianksi showed his undoubted talent on numerous occasions toward the end of last season and now, thanks to Vorm's impending exit, he will get to to do just that on a far more regular basis next term.

Meanwhile, at White Hart Lane, 30-year-old Vorm is likely to be watching from the side-lines.
