Swansea City goalkeeper Michel Vorm has been speaking ahead of his proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Netherlands international has reportedly agreed a £5million, three-year deal to move to White Hart Lane; this despite Spurs’ current first-choice Hugo Lloris only recently signing a new five-year contract of his own.
Speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Vorm revealed his thinking behind the move despite the inevitability of facing tough competition with Lloris.
“Every top club has two top ‘keepers under contract,” Vorm is quoted as saying.
“It fits in with the policy of a great club for the various competitions that will be played.”
At 30, Vorm may have felt the time was right to make the move, with Tottenham looking to improve under new boss Mauricio Pochettino.
But considering Lloris is three years Vorm’s junior, the player who has made 97 appearances for Swansea – including 32 last season – may have to get used to a sustained spell on the bench.
Although as he himself said, the chances will come. It is just up to him to take them.
