Real Madrid goalkeeper and Arsenal target Iker Casillas has had a picture of his passport and plane ticket taken on Wednesday, with the flight not heading towards London.
Arsenal had supposedly declared interest in the Spanish captain’s services, but only if Madrid would allow Casillas to leave for free.
But the 33-year-old has been pictured boarding a flight to Los Angeles to link up with the Real Madrid squad on their pre-season tour of the United States, dampening speculation that he could arrive at the Emirates.
Casillas was also pictured with countryman Sergio Ramos and Madrid midfielder Luka Modric, as all three are set to return to a heavily reduced Real squad on tour.
Gareth Bale has been the star name of the returned names so far, as the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Casillas himself took extended breaks following their World Cup commitments in Brazil this summer.
Arsenal have long been rumoured with potential goalkeeping arrivals at the club, as they look to provide stern back up to their number one Wojciech Szczęsny.
Łukasz Fabiański departed the Gunners last month to seal a move to Swansea City, with Arsenal having reportedly looked at Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall and Colombia shot-stopper David Ospina.
But the club seem unwilling to pay for Casillas, who has been frozen out of the number one jersey for La Liga fixtures for the last year. Diego Lopez had taken his place in goal, and the arrival of Costa Rica hero Keylor Navas is thought to be imminent, making life difficult for Casillas.
But it looks as if the 678 appearances for Madrid so far could be added to by Casillas, who is US bound to link up with the Spanish giants for yet another campaign.
