While Visceral, “push Hardline innovation further.”

Within hours of the announcement that Dragon Age: Inquisition has been set back by a month, it has also now been revealed that Battlefield Hardline, a second title from publishers EA will also be delayed, this time until next year.

Following a stint on beta DICE vice president and group general manager Karl Magnus Troedsson accounts how player involvement has moved the project along,” the Visceral Games team learned a lot from players about what they wanted in the game.” he said, “We’ve been poring over the data and feedback, and have already been putting a lot of it right into the game”

“This feedback also spurred us to start thinking about other possibilities and ways we could push Hardline innovation further and make the game even better.” Troedsson adds, “The more we thought about these ideas, the more we knew we had to get them into the game you will all be playing. However, there was only one problem. We would need more time. Time that we didn’t have if we decided to move forward with launching in just a couple of months.”

“We decided that the right thing to do was to take more time to ensure Hardline is the best, most innovative Battlefield experience we can give to you, our fans.”

Battlefield Hardline was originally set to land on PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, and Xbox 360 October 21st in North America and October 24th in Europe, no solid date has as yet been given for the 2015 release.

With many saying that Battlefield Hardline is not much more than a rushed out mod for Battlefield 4 having the extra time to tweak things with the help of player feedback could well benefit the game in the long term.

As a possible consequence of the Hardline delay EA have also announced the fourth planned DLC pack for Battlefield 4 will be delayed, called Final Stand the DLC was due this summer, instead it will now be coming out between October and December this year.

What are your thoughts on the issue, do you think Battlefield Hardline warrants the extra time spent on the game?
