A new album is out from the prince of pop parody along with a video for a comedy reworking of Blurred Lines.
For those unfamiliar with his work Weird Al Yankovic has enjoyed a long-running career parodying pop music hits with his own brand of silly lyrical interpretations.
Starting out in the 1970s Yankovic has picked up three Grammys and has sold around 12 million records over the years. Remembered for titles such as, ‘Another One Rides the Bus’ (taken from Queen’s Another One Bites the Dust) and ‘Eat It’ (a gastronomic reimagining of Michael Jackson’s Beat It), Yankovic’s oeuvre continues in 2014 with a new album, ‘Mandatory Fun’ out this month.
Taken from the album a video of Weird Al’s take on Robin Thicke’s annoyingly catchy slease anthem Blurred Lines is currently doing the rounds. In the song entitled Word Crimes Yankovic successfully pokes fun at the controversial hit from the coiffured walking hormone whilst also venting his own grievances about the state of literacy today.
The Video is below for your viewing pleasure.
