Morata's injured already, did Arsenal do well to avoid him?

Juventus have been shaken by the news that their big summer signing Alvaro Morata has suffered a knee injury.

Spanish striker Alvaro Morata has only just arrived at Juventus but he's already facing a spell on the sidelines.

The talented marksman was the Old Lady's big transfer target and signed for the Italian champions for £15.8 million despite apparent interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.

But Morata's pre-season preparations with Juventus have come to an abrupt stop before they even got started as he is in hospital with a knee injury sustained during his first training session in Turin.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport reports that Morata has sprained his knee and will be out of action for between 30 and 40 days.

The injury came about after a collision between Morata and goalkeeper Rubinho during a training game.

The 21-year-old posted a picture from his hospital bed on Instagram with the comment: ‘For those who laugh at the misfortunes of others... a very big kiss and good luck in life!'

Morata will undergo scans and tests later today to give a definite idea of the extent of the damage but it doesn't appear to be a long-term problem, which will be a relief for Juventus.

However, it still comes as a blow for the Bianconeri who may have to start their Serie A title defence without their new striker.
