Manchester City latest: No-go for striker, defender blow and midfielder’s loan move

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

He may have long been linked with a move to Manchester City, but Roma defender Mehdi Benatia has reportedly ruled out a move this summer.

According to ESPN, the Moroccan centre-back has joined the Italian club on their pre-season tour and has no intention of leaving Serie A this summer.

Both Benatia and Eliaquim Mangala have been linked with a move to City, but in the case of the former it appears he is staying exactly where he is.

In other news, the BBC reports that Blues youngster Emyr Huws will spend the first half of next season on loan at Wigan Athletic.

The midfielder becomes the latest young Premier League-based player to move to the Latics and he will be hoping it ultimately paves the way for a place in Manuel Pellegrini’s first-team plans.

And finally, the Guardian reports that City have no interest in signing Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba.

Recent reports had suggested that City may make a move following the injury to Alvaro Negredo. But a move for Drogba is reportedly not in the pipe-line, potentially paving the way for the player to return to Chelsea.
