Everton defender Seamus Coleman has been speaking about the club’s pre-season campaign, as the Toffees look to emulate their outstanding feats last season.
What a 12 months it has been for Roberto Martinez’s side. When the Spaniard first arrived, some scoffed at his ambition of taking his new club into the Champions League. And yet for much of his debut season the dream looked a distinct possibility.
The fact that Everton ultimately fell short should not detract from what was a marvellous season, and one that pointed at better things to come.
And now Coleman has been speaking to EvertonTV as he and his teammates look to do it all again come August.
“We’re looking forward to all the games really,” Coleman said in reference to their pre-season campaign.
“The training is tough, but it’s all about getting fit for the (competitive) games and I’m sure all the lads will be eager to impress.
“I won’t complain because we had good weather in Austria last week and we’re all really lucky to do what we do. And we’re all looking forward to getting going now.”
Coleman played 41 times for Everton last season, scoring seven goals and setting up two more in that time. And with the next generation of Toffees players exciting those who have seen them blossom, there is every reason for both the players and the fans to look ahead with excitement not just at the new campaign, but future ones, too.
