Highly sought after Moroccan central defender Mehdi Benatia has been linked with Manchester City, Chelsea and most recently Tottenham after a very impressive first debut season at the Stadio Olimpico.
With the 27-year-old reportedly unsettled in Italy many were considering a move to the Premier League to be very much on the cards.
However latest quotes from the Giallorossi boss will be a huge blow to Spurs and Manchester City in particular, as both are a little light in defence.
Currently on tour with his Roma side in the US, Rudi Garcia said in a press conference today: "For me, it's clear. He's under contract and he will be a Roma player this season.
"Fortunately the president makes a point of speaking with the players, he likes talking with everyone - he hasn't just spoken with Mehdi, he's spoken to them all.
"The only thing is that for you, the chat he had with Mehdi is more interesting than the ones he had with the others.
"In my opinion Mehdi is relaxed, he's motivated and he will play tomorrow. There's no problem."
It was also speculated that after the £17 million signing of young Argentine forward Juan Iturbe, Roma could be tempted into parting with Serbian attacker Adem Ljajic.
The 22-year-old like Benatia, has also impressed in his first season in Rome, guiding the club to their highest ever points total of 85 and only being beaten to the title by the formidable Juventus.
But the French manager has been quick to rule out his sale too adding: "For me the primary transfer strategy is to keep our most important players and Adem is one of them.
"He takes a lot of responsibility on his shoulders and I like that.
"We have to be wary of not putting too much pressure on Iturbe. He can improve and will be important in attack, but it'll take a while before we see him at his best in our system."
