Stats: How Tottenham target Depay compares to Townsend and Lennon

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly turned their attention to a World Cup superkid - Memphis Depay of PSV Eindhoven.

Reports over the weekend linked former Manchester United target Memphis Depay with a move to Tottenham Hotspur as the PSV Eindhoven superstar-in-the-making has allegedly impressed new Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino enough to convince the former Southampton boss to consider a £13 million bid for the World Cup wonderkid.

Depay was one of the young stars of the recent international tournament in Brazil.

The 20-year-old, who scored 12 goals and returned seven assists from 32 games in the Eredivise last season, was even described by United striker Robin van Persie as "beautiful".

But, statistically-speaking, how does the left-sided attacker compare to other wingers currently vying for starting roles at White Hart Lane - namely; Aaron Lennon and Andros Townsend?

When it comes to influence on the football, Townsend is the stand-out operator out of the three selected players according to Opta data for World Cup performance in 2014 and Premier League football from last season.

Townsend received a touch on the ball once every 1.3 minutes, edging ahead of Depay (1.4) and Lennon (1.9) while also having a superior passing accuracy to the Dutchman (almost 85%).

Lennon was the greater crosser of the football out of all three, with not one of Depay's cross attempts meeting an Oranje head compared Aaron's success rate of one in four.

While Townsend was most prolific when it came to creating chances, or goal-scoring opportunities, Depay's final ball was of a higher quality as it had a strong conversion to direct assists.

Depay was also the more adventurous dribbler of the football, had a much more effective shot on him and was even responsible for a goal scored every 88 minutes he was on the field - far surpassing Townsend's haul of one every 1,225 minutes and Lennon's return of one every 2,187 minutes.
