There is plenty of transfer activity for fans to mull over this morning as Arsenal and Liverpool are among the sides expected to shortly complete deals, while Manchester United’s Ed Woodward has confirmed the club are working on several days.
Pre-season also kicks in this week for United while other Premier League sides up and down the country continue their hard work ahead of the new season.
We’ve taken a look back at the stories making the headlines on this day last year.
‘Bale and Fabregas to United, Rooney to Chelsea’
The Express’ Sunday round up of transfer rumours suggested some big changes for Manchester United.
United were one of the sides that tried to stop Gareth Bale joining Real Madrid and David Moyes also commissioned a move for Cesc Fabregas, now at Chelsea.
Wayne Rooney was linked with an exit for most of last summer after reportedly asking to leave the club.
‘Higuain gives Arsenal chance to sign him’
Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain was reportedly stalling over a move to Napoli in Italy to give Arsenal a chance to bid for him.
Arsenal were thought to be put off by a move when Real Madrid upped his price from £24 million to £32 million.
The Gunners never went back in for him, which allowed Napoli to complete a £30 million deal for the forward.
‘Suarez joins Liverpool’s pre-season tour in Australia'
Luis Suarez linked up with his Liverpool teammates in Australia after bids from Arsenal had been turned down for his transfer.
Suarez was reportedly going to hold talks with Brendan Rodgers over his future at the club as he prepared for the new season.
Suarez was reportedly keen to play Champions League football, accusing Liverpool of breaking a promise to sell him last summer if they hadn’t secured a place in the competition.
