A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United…
Manchester United’s executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has revealed that there is no fixed budget for the club’s summer spending and that potential new signings are currently being worked on.
In an interview with MUTV, Woodward said, “We are willing to invest. There is no fixed budget. Financially we are extremely strong and funds are available.
“Louis (van Gaal) is assessing what’s going on and there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes, so watch this space.”
United fans will certainly hope that is a teaser for what is to come, with the swift signings of Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw hinting at a transfer-heavy summer that has gone somewhat quiet since those heady 24 hours earlier this summer.
In other news, reported United target William Carvalho could instead be off to Arsenal.
Reports over the weekend suggested the Gunners had tabled a bid for the Portuguese international. And now the Telegraph claims any interested party will have to pay at lease £24million (in one instalment) for the defensive midfielder.
New boss Massimiliano Allegri is reportedly keen to continue the pursuit of the French left-back.
