Ed Woodward confirms United are working on a number of transfers

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has confirmed the club are working on a number of deals.

Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has suggested the club’s fans can get excited about new signings arriving at Old Trafford.

Woodward has confirmed that the club has sufficient funds available to complete a number of deals the club are working on, as Louis van Gaal looks to improve his team ahead of next season.

“Louis is the boss and is assessing what’s going on but we have been in dialogue for some time about targets so there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes … we’re continuing to move forward on some of those targets … so watch this space,” he told MUTV.

“The time he [Van Gaal] spends here as well as in America, he’ll be able to assess what he’s got and continue to tweak the decisions if we need to. We want to do what it takes to win the title.”

Van Gaal said in his press conference last week that he needs to get to know his squad before he pulls the trigger and allows certain players to leave.

However, his comments suggest that he’s commissioned United to hold talks over key targets before giving his approval should his doubts over individuals in the current squad not be eased.

United have been working hard in the USA as the side prepare for their first game under the LvG regime against David Beckham’s former club LA Galaxy.

United fans in attendance could be guaranteed a very gritty and determined performance as it appears that several of the touring party could be playing for their futures at Old Trafford.

Of the deals Woodward has suggested he’s working on, United are thought to be eyeing a deal for Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal as well as securing a centre-back for next season, most likely Feyenoord’s Stefan de Vrij.

Another midfield target could be Daley Blind with the Catalan press suggesting United are one of the sides battling against Barcelona to sign the versatile defensive player.

It’s an exciting time to be a United fan.
