Tottenham look to have completed the capture on Ben Davies from Swansea City
Davies was the subject of a transfer tussle between Spurs and Liverpool for most of last week, with Tottenham seemingly prevailing successful in their pursuit of the Welshman.
Liverpool had submitted a bid of £8million, which was then rejected by Swansea, with Spurs agreeing a deal for Davies before manager Brendan Rodgers decided whether he would return with an improved offer.
Davies flew to Seattle on Saturday night where Tottenham were competing in a friendly, and has reportedly completed his medical. The 21-year-old will now travel with his new team-mates to continue the rest of their pre-season tour in Toronto.
The Davies deal has certainly been a complex one, with Michel Vorm also looking like he will head to White Hart Lane to provide competition for Hugo Lloris. Davies and Vorm’s acquisition has seen Spurs’ Gylfi Sigurðsson return West Wales, along with a cash sum.
Swansea’s two losses seem relatively well replaced, with Neil Taylor providing suitable pack up to Davies in the left-back role, with Łukasz Fabiański set to replace Vorm as their new number one goalkeeper.
Liverpool have certainly, so far, come off worst from the Davies/Vorm deal. Their unwillingness to pay £18million for Sevilla full-back Alberto Moreno sparked their interest in Davies in the first place, while they also continue to search for competition to goalkeeper Simon Mingolet as the club returns to Champions League football.
