Wales latest: Kroos responds to Bale welcome; Cardiff reportedly want United defender

A round-up of all the football stories hitting the headlines in Wales, featuring Cardiff City and Swansea City.

A look at all the football news across Wales this weekend, as Toni Kroos responds to Gareth Bale’s welcome message, and Cardiff City reportedly want a young Manchester United defender.

1) Kroos responds to Bale welcome

New Real Madrid signing Toni Kroos has responded to Gareth Bale’s welcome message on Twitter.

Bale sent a welcome greeting to the World Cup winning German, who replied with his thanks to the Welshman.

“Thank you !!! Happy to play with you the next years. #HalaMadrid.” Kroos tweeted.

2) Cardiff reportedly want Manchester United player

Cardiff City have been linked with Manchester United youngster Michael Keane.

The Bluebirds are reportedly looking to bring Keane in on loan to bolster their defence ahead of the new season.

The 21-year-old has been on loan with Blackburn, Derby and Leicester City previously, and is currently part of Louis Van Gaal’s travelling squad of their pre-season tour in the USA.

3) Campbell in Leicester U-turn

Fraizer Campbell is now reported to be on the way to Leicester City again, after previous negotiations fell through.

There has originally been a dispute over Campbell’s desired wage packet, but the 26-year-old is now set to choose the Foxes over Crystal Palace, say WalesOnline.

Campbell did not travel to Austria on Cardiff's pre-season tour, and instead stayed in Wales to decide his next career move.

4) Payet linked with Swansea once more

Marseille winger Dimitri Payet’s supposed move to Swansea could be back on after it was reported the French club need to balance their books.

Payet had been linked with an £8.5million to the Liberty Stadium this summer, with the 27-year-old reportedly unwilling to move to Wales.

But Payet, who has only been with the club one season, could now be forced to move for financial reasons according to WalesOnline.

5) Southampton to steal in for Caulker?

Finally, Steven Caulker’s future could take another unexpected twist, after WalesOnline reported Southampton are trying to snatch him from the grasp of Queens Park Rangers.

Caulker had been set to join the London club last week, before reportedly deciding he needed more time to decide his next move.

But new Saints boss Ronald Koeman is said to be a fan of the 22-year-old, and could look to lure him away from Loftus Road.
