Liverpool youngster Joao Teixeira is being tipped by former player David Fairclough to make a big impression in the near future for the Reds.
Teixeira burst into the collective consciousness of Liverpool fans last season, when he featured in a league game against Fulham.
And with his fellow young teammates Jordon Ibe and Kristoffer Peterson already making headlines in the pre-season friendlies against Brondby and Preston North End, the Portuguese could be the next to do just that.
Speaking to Liverpool’s official website, Fairclough said, “Joao is a player with enormous talent.
“His career at Liverpool was blighted at first by the back injury he had when he signed but he has the ability. There’s absolutely no doubt about that.
“I am expecting big things from Teixeira and this season could be the one when he makes his mark. I have every confidence in him because I just think he’s a great player.”
At 21, it could be argued that it is time for the winger to make his mark at Anfield. And he certainly has both the talent and confidence to do so.
While Brendan Rodgers has been tipped to sign a new left-winger for some time (and Adam Lallana is equally adept there or in an attacking midfield role) it could be Teixeira who provides the surprise element at times next season when Liverpool’s Plan A – and possibly Plan B – is not working.
