Pepe Reina has been pictured returning to Liverpool’s training camp following his year-long loan with Napoli.
Reina left Anfield last summer as manager Brendan Rodgers recruited the services of Simon Mignolet from Sunderland.
But Reina has now returned to the squad for their pre-season tour of the USA, with team-mate Jose Enrique tweeting a picture of the pair as they landed.
Reina has reportedly not been approached by Napoli or any other club regarding a permanent move away from the Reds, and looks set to remain in and around the squad as they look to go one better than last season and win the Premier League title.
Liverpool had been linked with a move for Swansea’s Michel Vorm, with certain reports claiming that Reina’s renewed presence has prevented any deal being done. The club will now supposedly pursue Brazilian goalkeeper Neto from Fiorentina.
In a season that sees Champions League football return to Anfield, it comes as a surprise that Brendan Rodger’s continues to overlook Reina as back up to Mignolet. Reina was number one for many seasons during Rafael Benitez’s reign at Liverpool, but has been something of an outcast at the club since Rodgers’ arrival.
Brad Jones is also still on the club's books, meaning that Liverpool will have four goalkeepers should they tie up a deal for Neto.
Reina made 41 appearances for Napoli last season, and even featured in Spain’s World Cup group-stage consolation match against Australia last month.
