Lyon continued their preparations for the 2014-15 campaign with a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk in a pre-season friendly in Annecy on Saturday.
Nabil Fekir opened the scoring for the French giants on 37 minutes, and six minutes later Alexandre Lacazette doubled their advantage from the penalty spot.
Yassine Benzia and Gael Danic also found the target for Les Gones, who have now won back-to-back friendly matches following a 2-0 triumph over FC Copenhagen.
Danic’s goal in particular was impressive, leading newly signed Arsenal defender Mathieu Debuchy to sing his French compatriot’s praise.
The 28-year-old former Lille and Newcastle United right-back took to social networking site Twitter to write: ‘Congrats my friend @stanich2 for yesterday’s beautiful goal! A great season has come for you!!’.
Bravo à mon ami Gaël danic @stanich2 pour le très joli but d hier !! Une grande saison a venir pour toi !!— Mathieu debuchy (@MatDebuchy) July 20, 2014
Debuchy completed his move from Newcastle to Arsenal last week on a long-term contract for a reported transfer fee of £12 million.
The France international arrives at the Emirates Stadium with a strong reputation and will replace his fellow countryman Bacary Sagna, who joined Premier League champions Manchester City on a free transfer earlier this summer.
