Arsenal stepped up their preparations for the 2014-15 season with a 2-0 victory over Boreham Wood at Meadow Park on Saturday.
It was only a pre-season friendly game, but the Gunners were made to work hard for the win by the Conference South side.
The North London outfit had to win until the 68th minute to open the scoring, when Kris Olsson turned in a nicely crafted pass from Tomas Rosicky.
Benik Afobe scored Arsenal’s second goal of the afternoon five minutes from full time from the penalty spot to wrap up the victory.
Arsene Wenger’s side were without a whole host of first-team regulars, including Olivier Giroud, Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla.
Germany international and 2014 World Cup winner Mesut Ozil was also not available for the match as he is on his summer holiday.
However, the 25-year-old midfielder, who joined the Gunners from Real Madrid for £42.5 million last summer, was keeping track of the game and took to social networking site Twitter to revel in their victory.
