Spurs transfer news: Baldini in Italy for £13.6m striker and to discuss Sandro sale

A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur could be closing in on a new signing after reports claimed Franco Baldini is in Italy for that very purpose.

Football Italia has picked up on claims originating from Sport Italia that Baldini flew to the country on Friday in a bid to negotiate with AS Roma for Mattia Destro and to speak to Napoli about the possible sale of Sandro.

The Brazilian midfielder has been linked with the White Hart Lane exit for some time, specifically to Italy. So the rumour does make sense.

As for Destro, the 23-year-old striker has netted 24 goals in 49 games for Roma and would be an excellent addition to Tottenham’s front-line.

It is being reported that Destro could be available for a fee in the region of £13.6million.

In other news, the Telegraph reports that Tottenham are closing in on Swansea City defender Ben Davies for a reported £10million.

And there could still be some business the other way, with the South Wales Evening Post claiming Swansea remain confident of signing Gylfi Sigurdsson despite previous reports that Crystal Palace were closing in on him.
