Filipe Luis has underlined one of the reasons why he decided to join Chelsea from Atletico Madrid this summer, and surprise surprise, it is the ‘Jose Mourinho factor’.
In his first interview with the Blues’ official website following his £16 million move from the Spanish champions, the Brazil international defender claimed that the presence of the Portuguese manager convinced him to switch to Stamford Bridge.
The star left-back also hailed the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid coach as the ‘best’ there is in football management.
‘The tactical advice will come in training but being able to work with Jose was one of the reasons which made my decision to come here so easy’, he said.
‘Chelsea is the best club for me to do that (win trophies); we have the best coach and an amazing squad, we have some brilliant players and I hope the supporters will see the Premier League trophy at Stamford Bridge at the end of the season’, he added.
It has become such a cliché - a player joins a new club and claims that working with the manager of that particular team was a key reason behind his move.
Interestingly, Luis claims that Mourinho is the best coach in the world, having actually never played under him. Not that one needs to play under a manager to know and appreciate his qualities, but all this is again so clichéd.
Thankfully we have the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who give far more interesting interviews.
