Demba Ba was always going to leave Chelsea this summer. The 29-year-old joined the Blues in January 2013 when Rafael Benitez was in charge, but he could not make a good impression on the Spaniard’s successor Jose Mourinho.
True, the Senegal international scored some important goals in the second half of the 2013-14 season (such as the one against Paris Saint-Germain at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League), but there was always a feeling that manager Mourinho did not rate him highly.

And now Ba has left Chelsea and joined Turkish giants Besiktas, but not before posting a farewell message to the club and to a certain Eden Hazard.
It seems that Ba and Hazard had struck up a good friendship with each other during their time at Stamford Bridge.
Perhaps Ba was not exactly ‘Chelsea material’. As good as he may be, the former West Ham United striker did not exactly do enough to make himself ‘unsalable’.
The transfer of Ba from Chelsea to Besiktas is probably best for all parties concerned.
