CONFIRMED: Liverpool line-up v Preston - Lambert makes his debut

Preston North End

Here's how Liverpool line up for their friendly against Preston North End this afternoon, kick-off at 15:00 GMT.

Preston starting XI: Jones; Woods, Clarke, Wright, Buchanan; Kilkenny, Browne; Gallagher, Brownhill, Hayhurst; Garner

Liverpool starting XI: Jones; Wisdom, Kelly, Skrtel, Flanagan; Lucas, Allen, Can, Coutinho; Lambert, Borini

Liverpool's pre-season preparations continue with a trip to Deepdale today, as they take on League One promotion hopefuls Preston.

The Reds lost to Brondby 2-1 in midweek as their pre-season games started, but now it's back to England for a repeat of the pre-season fixture from last summer. Manager Brendan Rodgers took his team to Deepdale a year ago and left with a 4-0 win, and he will be hoping for a similar result this time around.

The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson, Raheem Sterling and Jordan Henderson won't play having been handed an extended break after the World Cup, but Rodgers will still be able to call upon the likes of Joe Allen, Fabio Borini and Philippe Coutinho after the trio featured against Brondby.

Simon Grayson's Preston will be expected to mount another promotion push having been beaten by Rotherham United in last season's League One play-off semi final, and a win over Liverpool would no doubt hand fans a boost – even if it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things.
