Borussia Dortmund decided to pay tribute to the four members of the first team that won the World Cup with Germany.
The BVB section of tabloid newspaper Bild Tweeted a billboard in honour of the four players with an accompanying ‘We are proud of you!’ message.
Right at the front of the billboard image is Manchester United and Barcelona transfer target Mats Hummels.
Speculation persists over a £20 million move from United for the German centre-back but based on this evidence, he’s as popular at BVB as he ever has been since he nailed down a place in the first team.
Goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller along with defenders Kevin Grosskreutz and Erik Durm also feature on the image.
Manchester United may never get a realistic chance to sign Hummels if Jurgen Klopp decides to make him captain at the end of the current season, with Seb Kehl confirming it’s his last season with the club.
