A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

The Daily Star claims Manchester United offered Yaya Toure an escape route from Manchester City and were prepared to bid £40million for the midfielder.

However, the same report claims the Ivory Coast international rejected the opportunity as he intends to sever all ties with the Premier League and move to Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The rumour is about as crazy as it gets at a time in the footballing calendar when such things are commonplace. But having first been linked with United by French publication La Parisian last month, it seems the English press are now getting in on the act.

In other news, Chilean journalist Alfredo Pedulla claims United have been talking to Arturo Vidal’s agent for some time about a potential move to Old Trafford.

He also claims United could make a €50million bid "sooner or later" which, despite Juventus claiming the player is not for sale, could be hard to refuse.

And finally, West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine has claimed Luke Shaw’s £30million move to United has prompted other clubs to raise their asking prices.

Speaking to the Mirror, Irvine said, “When you look for full-backs now, the prices have changed as a result of what happened with Luke Shaw. Players are worth a lot more than before and that makes it difficult for us.”
