1) Paul Pogba
One of the most discussed players at the World Cup this summer in Brazil is this Paris Saint-German and France midfielder. The 21-year-old former Manchester United man has been simply sublime in the middle of the part over the past 18 months and is widely regarded as a ‘complete midfielder’ close to being one of the best in the world. He is worth more than Vidal due to his age, and so Juventus may be more tempted to cash in for an even higher price.
2) Bastian Schweinsteiger
Most certainly already one of the best in the world is this World Cup winner and Germany star. The 29-year-old is well-known to Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal from his time as Bayern Munich and the midfielder powerhouse has already been linked with a move to Old Trafford to re-join his former mentor.
3) Sami Khedira
Meanwhile, Real Madrid are reportedly open to selling another Germany midfielder. Khedira proved his worth for club and country this year, winning the Champions League with Real Madrid and the World Cup with Germany. Aged just 27, he is heavily linked with a potential move to the Premier League to join either Arsenal or Chelsea but there’s no reason United couldn’t swoop in to sign him instead.
4) Kevin Strootman
Another player heavily linked with United in the past 12 months is Netherlands midfielder Strootman. The 24-year-old Dutchman is well regarded by Louis van Gaal and, despite his move to Roma from his native Holland last year, he could be a signing United could get their hands on if they were prepared to go the distance, although he may no be fit until October.
5) Morgan Schneiderlin
Closer to home, this 24-year-old Southampton midfielder took plaudits for his impressive performance last season. His pass completion rate is that of a top-level performer (89.3% last term), he is a senior France international and is already acclimatized to the Premier League's rough and tumble and, furthermore, he could likely be available for a much lower fee than all of the above.
