It has been a while since Arturo Vidal spoke about the speculation surrounding his future – at least a day or two – so it may come as a relief to those keen on keeping up with the Chilean that he has once again opened up about his future.
Well, I say “opened up” when what I actually mean is answer questions with somewhat cryptic answers, such is the way of footballers the world over.
The Juventus midfielder has been linked with a big-money move to Manchester United this summer. But the longer the rumours remain just that, there is a distinct possibility this could go the way of the Cesc Fabregas story last summer.
So what has Vidal had to say for himself this time?
Speaking to Chilean radio station ADN, when questioned about the United rumours Vidal said, “I could not say I’ve completed a cycle at Juventus. If I stay, I intend to keep doing things right.”
It seems the player, quite smartly, has no intention of committing one way or the other given the fickle and ever-changing nature of the transfer market.
Recent reports have suggested United are in regular contact with the player’s agent, and that they are considering sending a €50million offer Juventus’s way. But for now all we know for certain is that the player is not ruling out a stay in Italy.
Everything else, as will be the case for much of this and every summer, is just hearsay.
