Bundesliga expert Jan Aage Fjortoft has warned Manchester United fans not to expect any ‘must have’ deals over the rest of the summer.
Van Gaal will know the European marke. I expect him to do "clever deals" more than must have- deals And develope stars like he did at Bayern— Jan Aage Fjortoft (@JanAageFjortoft) July 17, 2014
Louis van Gaal was officially unveiled as the club’s new boss yesterday and Fjortoft has suggested he’ll go after clever deals for the rest of the summer if he wants to add new players to the squad.
United are in a position where they can back their new gaffer financially with pretty much any major signing he wants to go after, but Fjortoft’s Tweet suggests any hopes over a big money deal for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels or Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria may be flawed.
Van Gaal has rightly said that he’ll assess his squad over the next few weeks before he makes any more moves in the transfer market.
Fortunately for the Dutchman, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool have all done most of their business up front which means the 62-year-old should be relatively unchallenged if he wants to make transfer moves over the next few weeks.
It’s an exciting time to be a Manchester United fan but a big ask from LvG for fans to trust him before he’s even got his teeth into the job.
