His time at Manchester United may have come to an end, but Rio Ferdinand still took time to send a message to both the club and their fans after completing his move to Queens Park Rangers.
The former England defender was a free agent after leaving Old Trafford at the end of last season. And his former manager Harry Redknapp was quick to snap him up, bringing him to Loftus Road on a one-year deal.
Ferdinand may be 35, but he still showed last season that he can perform at the highest level. And it will be interesting to see what he does for the newly-promoted side.
But shortly after completing his move, he sent a special message to his former club on Twitter.
"Although it's a new beginning for me I will always have a special place in my heart for Man Utd and the fans," he wrote.
And having served the club so long and so impressively, you sense the feeling is mutual.
