A former Twitter employee claims he was fired despite having received performance reviews that met or exceeded expectations, SFGate reports.
Twitter faces charges that it unlawfully terminated an employee based on his age and medical disability.
Peter Taylor filed a lawsuit against the California-based firm alleging that he was fired in September 2013 despite having received performance reviews that met or exceeded expectations, SFGate reported Wednesday.
Taylor, 57 years old at the time, was the manager of data center deployment at Twitter.
"He was terminated without warning, without notice, without explanation, and without an opportunity to discuss any concerns defendants might have," the lawsuit said, noting that Taylor received "at least one critical mark" about his age from his supervisor.
Employees in positions similar to Taylor's "are all substantially younger" than Taylor, the complaint said. The suit also claims he was replaced with several employees in their 20s and 30s.
In an emailed statement to SFGate, Twitter said the case is without merit and the company "will vigorously defend ourselves against it."
