All the latest summer transfer news from Serie A...
Juventus had widely been expected to announce the signing of Verona winger Juan Iturbe, but the departure of manager Antonio Conte had thrown the deal into doubt. The Argentine starred in Serie A last season, and now Juve have been hit with a double blow this week after Roma beat them to the signing of the 21-year-old.
Rudi Garcia's side have taken full advantage of Juve's turmoil to sign the youngster known as "the next Lionel Messi", swooping to sign him for a fee believed to be in the region of €24.5m. Liverpool had also been linked with a swoop for the former Porto star, but now he's expected to line up across from Gervinho in the Roma attack.
Juve now need to look for another winger this summer, and could make a move to sign Iturbe's compatriot Ezequiel Lavezzi from Paris Saint-Germain. The former Napoli star could be pushed out of the French capital by the potential arrival of another Argentine, Angel di Maria, and now reports in Italy suggest that new manager Massimiliano Allegri sees the 29-year-old as the perfect option for his attack.
Another player linked with Liverpool this summer was Rubin Kazan midfielder Yann M'Vila, but they have missed out on him too as the Frenchman's deal with Inter Milan was confirmed earlier this week. The player's agent, Fabrizio Ferrari, says that the deal that saw M'Vila join Inter on loan was never in doubt, despite taking some time.
"There were a few difficulties, especially in terms of the make-up of the deal," Ferrari said. "In the end, the director Ausilio managed to convince the Ruben Kazan President to do the deal with the terms that were initially proposed. He [M’Vila] was calm, the only danger of the deal not being done was when Ruben asked to chance the terms, but we were always optimistic about the deal."
