Report: Manchester United put a price on Nani

AC Milan and Manchester United have reportedly opened talks for Portuguese winger Nani but the valuation is higher than the Italian side would like.

AC Milan's new coach Pippo Inzaghi is said to be determined to bring Nani to the club, but the financial side of the deal could be hard to iron out.

Milan are trying to rebuild after a dismal campaign that ended with the ignominy of not even qualifying for the 2014-15 Europa League.

Clarence Seedorf has been replaced by former youth coach Inzaghi and the former striking legend is trying to add some new recruits.

However, Milan will have to work without quite a tight budget until they can complete the sale of enigmatic marksman Mario Balotelli.

Italian newspaper Leggo believes that Milan transfer guru Adriano Galliani has been in touch with Manchester United to discuss Nani.

Over the last few days Galliani may have been given a valuation, which Leggo states is around £12.5 million.

It looks likely that Manchester United will be willing to reduce their initial bargaining position and Milan will certainly need a discount.

It is suggested that the Italian club only have around £8.5 million at the very most to offer and could still struggle with Nani's wage demands.

Nani would probably welcome a fresh start after a tough season with United which saw him reduced to a peripheral figure and maligned by fans.
