One year ago, David Moyes was preparing for his first (and what proved to be his only) season in charge of Manchester United.
At the time rumours persisted of big money moves for the likes of Cesc Fabregas but ultimately fans had to wait until deadline day to see the club's one and only senior signing of the summer, Marouane Fellaini.
But 12 months on, it is Louis van Gaal's turn to face the media and take on the pressure of having your name on the manager's office at Old Trafford.
So as the 62-year-old Dutchman was preparing to face the press for the first time in his new role, what was his predecessor doing?
Was he moping around at home, avoiding all news outlets and bemoaning his one fateful year in charge? Well no, actually he looked pretty happy with himself as he enjoyed a golf tournament at Holylake.
It was a far cry from this time last year, but Moyes will be back when he is good and ready. For now he just looks to be enjoying doing whatever he wants.
