There is plenty on the agenda today for football fans as Manchester United get ready to unveil their new manager Louis van Gaal to the press later this afternoon.
There could also be further twists and turns over the future of German midfielder Sami Khedira today with Arsenal and Chelsea thought to be locked in a battle to sign him.
Khedira’s agent says no agreement exists to join Arsenal, which has seemingly caused Chelsea to try and hijack any move for him.
We’ve decided to take a look back on the stories making the headlines on this day last year.
‘United dismiss Chelsea-Rooney bid’
Manchester United rejected an offer from Chelsea for striker Wayne Rooney.
Rooney’s future was the subject of much speculation this time last year as David Moyes battled to keep a lid on the idea that he could leave.
Rooney eventually did so, signing a huge new contract at the club worth a staggering £300,000 per week.
‘Santi Cazorla not available’
Arsenal warned off Spanish side Atletico Madrid, stating Santi Cazorla was not available at any price.
Diego Simeone is thought to be a long term admirer of the Spanish number ten who has now been linked with Atleti for two consecutive seasons.
Atletico Madrid were in a good position to buy last summer following the big money sale of Radamel Falcao but a deal never happened.
‘Liverpool to move for Morata’
The Metro reported that Liverpool were considering a £6 million move for then Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.
Morata has endured a frustrating career at Los Blancos, with few opportunities that has seen him linked regularly with exits.
Morata is likely to complete a move to Juventus in the near future, with the Reds failing to do a deal last summer.
