A select round-up of the latest news relating to Manchester United

Manchester United could reportedly axe a whole host of first-team players in the coming days, according to a report in the Daily Star.

The paper claims new manager Louis van Gaal will waste no time in sorting the wheat from the chaff, and goes on to name the players at risk of being shown the exit prior to the new campaign.

Anderson, Javier Hernandez, Wilfried Zaha, Nani, Chris Smalling, Tom Cleverley and Bebe are all tipped to leave while Darren Fletcher, Ashley Young and Rafael are also said to be fighting for their United futures.

Some of the names will come as no surprise to fans who have watched the club in recent times, but others will surely be given the chance to impress under van Gaal – most notably Zaha, Rafael and Fletcher.

In other news, reported United target James Rodriguez will cost any potential suitor £70million according to Goal.

They report that is the price Monaco would demand for their Colombian attacker following his outstanding showing at the World Cup.

United were said to be heavily monitoring the player prior to his move to Ligue 1, and despite the money available to van Gaal this summer, he is highly unlikely to spend so much on a young player, no matter how impressive he has been in recent times.
