Manchester City latest: Toure replacement reportedly considered; new deal announced

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Manchester City are considering Ross Barkley as a replacement for Yaya Toure if the Ivorian leaves the Blues, according to the Express.

Doubts remain over the future of Toure after his comments earlier this summer and the ongoing speculation linking him with a move away from the Etihad stadium.

And now it is being claimed that Manuel Pellegrini has earmarked the Everton youngster as a possible replacement should the need arise.

While Barkley will be on many clubs’ wish-list, the Toffees will surely do everything in their power to keep him at the club. But with a contract that expires in the summer of 2016, Barkley and his current club may have a decision or two to make in the near future.

In other news, City have announced that they have linked up with car manufacturer Nissan.

As reported by ESPN, the Blues have signed a five-year sponsorship deal with the Japanese company.

City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said, “Nissan is a leader in innovation and sustainability; values which are also at the heart of our own organisation."
