Tottenham latest, reported talks over Lamela, club leads chase for Davies

Erik Lamela

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday evening.

Inter Milan have opened talks with Tottenham over the transfer of Erik Lamela according to TalkSport, who cite reports from Italy.

Record signing Lamela didn't make much of an impact in his first season for Spurs as he struggled to settle in following his transfer from Roma, whilst injuries also prevented him from getting as much game time as he would have wanted.

There have been reports that contradict this claim previously, some suggesting that Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino sees a role for Lamela within his side.

Spurs appear to be leading the race to sign Swansea City left-back Ben Davies according to the South Wales Evening Post.

There are reports that the club has had a £10 million bid accepted for the 21-year-old defender, who is also a target of Liverpool, who had an £8 million bid rejected.

Young midfielder Alex Pritchard has signed a new contract at Tottenham that will keep him at the club until 2016, and has been sent on loan to Brentford for the season.

Pritchard has previously been on loan at Swindon Town, but was handed his first team debut in last season's final day win over Aston Villa at White Hart Lane.

Two first-team players have been withdrawn from the tour of North America. Vlad Chiriches misses out because of stiffness in his lower back, with a statement on the official website saying they are assessing him to determine the full extent of the problem.

Midfielder Sandro has also been withdrawn because of a virus.
