Van Gaal's assistant for the Netherlands also thinks the 62-year-old will impress Man United fans.
Ryan Giggs will be van Gaal's number two Old Trafford and Kluivert said van Gaal had told him he would loved to have given him the opportunity to work at Manchester United.
He told TalkSport: “I talked with Van Gaal and he said he would have loved to have given me the opportunity at Manchester United, but there was somebody already in my position. I’m fine with it. I would have loved to come to Manchester United. I hope it can happen in the future, you never know.”
If Giggs wasn't going to be assistant manager, then Kluivert's appointment would have been understandable given that he knows van Gaal and his methods well.
But the appointment of Giggs as van Gaal's number two is shrewd given the experience and knowledge he has at Manchester United, and he knows what it takes to win so many honours given his illustrious career at Old Trafford.
It does seem that Kluivert may get an opportunity if one of van Gaal's backroom staff were to leave the club at some stage during his tenure.
The former striker, who spent time at Ajax and Barcelona, has also said that van Gaal's style of player will not disappoint the Manchester United fans, and that he'll target the Premier League title this season.
“Van Gaal is a great tactician and he wants to win matches. He likes to play offensive and attractive football as well though. He won’t disappoint the Manchester United fans.”
