West Ham, Stoke and Southampton fight for Livorno striker

The president of Italian side Livorno has claimed that West Ham, Stoke and Southampton are all in the market for striker Paulinho.

Livorno chief Aldo Spinelli has declared that three Premier League clubs are battling Serie A team Verona for the signature of striker Paulinho.

The 28-year-old has an impressive strike rate for Livorno having netted 48 times in 160 games for the Tuscan side since joining in 2005.

Paulinho has thrived while playing for a club who have always been minnows and has often managed to find the net despite not having the best of service.

The Brazilian scored 16 times in Serie A last season but it wasn't enough to keep Livorno up as they ended up finishing rock bottom.

Livorno are resigned to losing Paulinho as they prepare for life in the second tier and president Spinelli has revealed the extent of the interest in him.

"It's not just Verona who want the player," he told Tuttomercatoweb.

"West Ham, Stoke City and Southampton are following him and also two clubs from Dubai. As far as we're concerned one club is the same as another.

"I hope that the lad chooses his destination and then we will work out the financial terms. Our valuation of £8 million in January? It has dropped since then."
